Industrial Exhibit

This was the second of two commissions in 2000 for The Smith Art Gallery and Museum in Stirling, Scotland. They were installing a new permanent exhibition space showcasing the history of the Stirling area, and I was commissioned to paint two areas; this area covered Business and the Industrial Revolution in Stirling. I painted a frieze that ran across the top of the exhibit area, showing a procession of tradesmen copied from a Victorian illustration, and a series of blocks showing the symbols of the various trades. These symbols were the historic symbols of each of the trades, found on signs, buildings and gravestones from the time.
